HOW IT WORKS 3
TO EXCHANGE PALLETS
- The load is placed in the machine close to the sidewall. The clamp is activated and secures the load.
- The machine tilts 105°, thus releasing the weight of the load from the pallet. The clamp is then released and the pallet can be quickly removed and/or replaced.
- A small roller-bed assists pallet replacement.
- With the new pallet in place, the sequence is reversed and the load turned to its original position, ready for removal.

- A Cherry's PSM Pallet Recovery machine will simply separate the pallet from the bottom of the load.
- Our clamp to layback process will detach the pallet from the bottom of the load. You then simply replace the pallet of choice. Stand up the load to it's original position, pallet exchange is complete.
- This quick reliable method of pallet exchange will eliminate the damage that normally occurs when the product is pushed across the surface of the pallet.
- No excess pressure is applied to product, fragile goods can be supported without fear of damage.

Traditionally, the removal of pallets has required lifting and restacking of loads. This arduous task involves not only significant time and effort on the part of the employee, but also includes the potential risk of arm injuries and back strain. The most obvious benefits are better working conditions and a decrease in injuries. In addition, better working conditions translate to happier and more long-term employees. 4
Various uses in the Food & Warehousing Industry
- Companies that produce 100% on Chep, but have customer who do not want or can not receive the Chep pallet.
- Companies that produce 100% on a White pallet due to the fact that it may be in there warehouse for a long period. Will need to have a quick transfer system if the customer request is to ship on a Chep pallet.
- Chep pallets, where you prefer to store long term on your own pallets but your customers prefer to receive rental pallets. You will cut costs by keeping the minimum number of pallets on rent.
- Products delivered on a Chep pallet to a company who is not on the Chep program. This customer can remove and return the Chep pallet immediately.
- Products arriving on poor quality pallets that will be racked in a high bay system must be switched to a good quality pallet.
- Raw materials that arrive on wood pallets in food plants can be transferred to plastic, or aluminum type pallet.
- Retain quality in-house pallet or plastic pallets.
- Transfer pallet loads on to treated pallets.
I.E. Pallets being sent to Australia, Brazil, China and Europe

Industry is always looking for ergonomic solutions to eliminate back injuries, because whoever handles the pallet needs to do so by lifting as little weight as possible. When dealing with wood pallets there is always going to be issues with broken boards and eventually product damage. Couple that with JIT shipping and Cross Docking, issues of damage recovery and pallet exchange become that much more significant. That is another reason why the Pallet Recovery Machine is such a natural fit within the industry. It facilitates the speed of getting the product to market and takes the element of repetitive trauma out of the equation.

With the load in the machine, a clamping plate is then lowered to secure the load. The load is then tipped 90 degrees and the clamping plate is released. With the load now in a tilted position, the product is loosened to a degree that allows the pallet to be easily removed by the operator. The replaced pallets are simply pulled out and stacked to the side, the machine will then stand up the load to it's original position. The fork lift operator will then remove the load from the equipment by approaching between the yellow protection posts.
